Recording Basics

Learn the fundamentals of recording audio with Voicord including microphone setup and controls.

Starting a Recording

  1. 1

    Select your language

Choose the spoken language from the language selector before recording. You can search by language name to quickly find it.

  2. 2

    Set up translation (optional)

If you need real-time translation, select a target language and choose between one-way or two-way mode.

  3. 3

    Click the Record button

Press the blue Record button at the bottom of the screen. Your browser will ask for microphone permission on first use — click Allow.

  4. 4

    Start speaking

Once connected, the recording timer starts and live transcript appears in real time.

Recording Controls

During a recording, you have three main controls:

Pause — Temporarily stops capturing audio while keeping your session active. The timer pauses and no audio is recorded. Useful for breaks or side conversations you don't want transcribed.

Resume — Continues recording from where you paused. The transcript picks up seamlessly as one continuous session.

Stop — Ends the recording session. Your transcript and audio are saved automatically.

Quick Tip

You can pause and resume as many times as needed. All segments are combined into one continuous transcript.

Choosing Your Microphone

Voicord automatically detects available microphones on your device. Use the audio source selector to switch between devices before or during recording.

You can also choose to capture system audio instead of microphone input — useful for transcribing audio from other apps, video calls, or screen sharing.

Your microphone selection is remembered across sessions. If your preferred device is disconnected, Voicord automatically falls back to the default microphone.

Recording Limits

Each plan includes a monthly recording allowance. A warning notification appears when you have about 5 minutes of recording time remaining.

If you reach your limit during a recording, the session stops automatically and everything up to that point is saved. You can upgrade your plan for more recording hours.

Quota Warning

Keep an eye on the 5-minute warning that appears near the end of your allowance. Your transcript is always saved, even if the recording stops due to a quota limit.
