Audio Troubleshooting

Fix common audio problems including microphone issues and browser permissions.

Common Microphone Problems

Granting Browser Permissions

If you accidentally denied microphone permission or need to reset it, follow these steps for your browser:

Chrome — Click the lock icon in the address bar → Site settings → set Microphone to "Allow".

Safari — Go to Safari → Settings → Websites → Microphone → find Voicord and set to "Allow".

Edge — Click the lock icon in the address bar → Permissions → set Microphone to "Allow".

Firefox — Click the shield icon in the address bar → Clear permission for microphone, then reload and allow when prompted.

After changing permission settings, reload the page for the changes to take effect.

Choosing the Right Audio Source

If you have multiple microphones connected, make sure the correct one is selected in Voicord's audio source selector. Virtual audio devices (like Soundflower or VoiceMeeter) are automatically filtered out to avoid confusion.

For transcribing audio from other applications, select "System Audio" as your source instead of a microphone. This captures whatever audio your computer is playing.

Tips for Better Transcription Quality

Use an external microphone when possible — even a basic USB or headset mic is significantly better than a built-in laptop microphone.

Reduce background noise — close windows, turn off fans, and move away from noisy environments.

Speak at a normal pace and volume — the AI handles natural speech well, but very fast or very quiet speech may reduce accuracy.

Ensure a stable internet connection — transcription happens in the cloud, so a reliable connection is essential for real-time results.

Offline Safety

If your internet connection drops during recording, Voicord saves your data locally and automatically syncs when the connection is restored. You won't lose your transcript.
